about IbisScope Software
IbisScope is a startup software development company created in 2006 by a group of engineers with many years of experience in the industrial design industry. Frustrated by recurring inefficiencies in design procedures and not seeing solutions within the major design software enterprise systems, IbisScope founders set a shared goal of creating software that would directly address productivity issues within companies yet be affordable to individuals.
Our Vision
- To bring the latest advances in software technology to the individual technologist and technology company.
- To create software that increases collaboration within workgroups and between companies.
- To create and sell software that will increase productivity in time-consuming design tasks necessary for the long term success of projects yet overlooked by major software vendors.
Owner and Chief Architect
Wayne Patin, chief architect and founder of IbisScope Software, has worked in computer technology within the industrial engineering industry since the early 1970's, where he held a liaison position between IT and the electrical design department of a major engineering firm for development of a mainframe-based cable management program that auto-routed and scheduled thousands of cables within power plants. In the years that followed years he witnessed the dramatic industry shift from hand-drafted blueprints to modern CAD systems.
Wayne started programming using C++ in the early 1990's and developed the software framework for a verification program that would monitor and report on standards-compliance when designing electrical distribution systems. The framework, Standards Integrated Design Software, was issued as US Patent 6516451 on February 4, 2003.
In 2000 Wayne assumed a position in Applications Support for Parsons Engineering and Construction as a database administrator, with responsibility over project document management. During this period, his concept of an easy-to-use document markup program began while supporting efforts of engineers to switch from paper markup reviews to online electronic reviews. Years later, recognizing the potential of several new Microsoft technologies, Wayne began the groundwork for an application based on XPS and Windows Presentation Foundation. With the support of two engineering colleagues, IbisScope Software was formed and its flagship product, Mark^Up Tools, was introduced. Wayne lives in a suburb of Houston with his wife Leisa and daughter Elissa.
